About

From almost the first time I stepped into a woodshop I’ve been hooked. Whether it’s the smell of fresh cut lumber, the satisfaction of stepping back and viewing a completed project, or just the sheer joy of experimenting and learning new ways to treat and manipulate wood, I just can’t get enough.

Though that isn’t to say that timber is my only obsesion, almost any hand-skill is able to lure me in in the same way. Over the years I’ve spent many happy hours experimenting across disciplines, whether they be blacksmithing, metal turning, jewellery or leathercraft, and I love it when I’m able to draw a skill from one discipline and use it within another.

Be that as it may my primary craft for the last eight years has been woodwork. I studied 3D Design at the University of Plymouth, specialising as a Designer-Maker, and have spent the last five years working as a Cabinetmaker making bespoke shaker kitchens and interiors.

My goal when designing a piece is to create something that showcases and accentuates the inherrent beauty of the chosen material, not to overpower or disguise it. I believe in the refined design rather than the overbearing; a piece should fit within a space, not take it over.
