PokerBox
This custom card box was designed and produced as part of a larger project titled “declassified”, exploring how interaction with a piece of furniture affects the way it is perceived. This box conceals several secret compartments within its design, encouraging interaction and exploration.
The structure of the box is made from Sapele and Cherry, with a card-holder of Bird’s-eye Maple and a chip tray of flame Walnut.
The top of the box features a 3D cube effect of hand cut Sapele, Walnut and Maple veneers
The flame Walnut sides of the chip tray are spaced with bronze rods, and french polished to a high-gloss finish. The tray will hold a total of 100 standard poker chips.
